Barons Go 1-2 During Exhibition Weeekend

The Oil Barons started the exhibition schedule this past weekend going 1-2 in their first 3 games. The team was very tentative Friday losing 5-2 in Sherwood Park. Jessey Touchette and Parker Evans-Campbell scored in what can only be described as a very sloppy game.

The Barons bounced back with a 3-2 overtime victory in Lloydminster but once again the game was a less than stellar effort on behalf of the MOB. Goal scorers were Brock Maschmeyer, Luc Lalor and Jessey Touchette with the winner.

The Barons dropped a 2-1 decision in Bonnyville Sunday in what was probably the best game of the weekend. Mike Marianchuk scored the lone goal on a power play in the 1st period.

The team is now down to 29 players - 2 Goalies, 11 Defence and 16 Forwards heading into Okotoks Thursday Aug 30th for another 3 game swing.

The Barons are Back

Main Camp started last night at the Casman Centre as 41 players try to earn a spot on the 2012/13 Oil Barons roster.

Last nights action saw team Blue score a 8-6 victory over the Gold squad. Veteran Mike Marianchuk led the Blue team with 2 goals and 2 assists while line mate Kevin Lacroix added 1 goal and 3 assists. Harrison Hendrix, Brock Maschmeyer and Brett Printz all contributed 2 goals in the scrimmage. Goalie Tanner Jaillet sparkled in net stopping 19 of the 20 shots he faced.

The Oil Barons have acquired Forward Jordan Clark from Okotoks. Jordan is a feisty forward who likes to play a crash and bang style that should make him a fan favourite in Fort McMurray.
