Barons Go 1-2 During Exhibition Weeekend

The Oil Barons started the exhibition schedule this past weekend going 1-2 in their first 3 games. The team was very tentative Friday losing 5-2 in Sherwood Park. Jessey Touchette and Parker Evans-Campbell scored in what can only be described as a very sloppy game.

The Barons bounced back with a 3-2 overtime victory in Lloydminster but once again the game was a less than stellar effort on behalf of the MOB. Goal scorers were Brock Maschmeyer, Luc Lalor and Jessey Touchette with the winner.

The Barons dropped a 2-1 decision in Bonnyville Sunday in what was probably the best game of the weekend. Mike Marianchuk scored the lone goal on a power play in the 1st period.

The team is now down to 29 players - 2 Goalies, 11 Defence and 16 Forwards heading into Okotoks Thursday Aug 30th for another 3 game swing.

Barons Down 3-2

The Oil Barons have their backs against the wall after dropping a 4-1 decision in Game 5 in Brooks Thursday evening. The Bandits had evened the series with a 3-2 win at the Casman Centre in Game 4.

Despite out shooting the Bandits 43-25 and out chancing the 21-8 the Bandits were able to even the series in Fort McMurray scoring 2 power play goals to seal the victory. Kevin Lacroix scored his 10th of the playoffs and Colton Parayko added his 2nd late in the game.

Game 5 saw Brooks hold a 1-0 lead for 40 minutes before putting the game away in the 3rd period. The Barons struggled all night in handling the puck and the Bandits made them pay for their mistakes.

The Barons now face a do or die situation Saturday at the Casman Centre and must summon some energy from their home fans to send the series to a game 7 Monday in Brooks.
