The Fort McMurray Oil Barons head home 1-1 in the best of seven AJHL Final after splitting the first 2 games in Brooks.
Friday the Barons dropped a 5-1 decision and looked like a team struggling to find a spark. The Bandits out shot the MOB 39-28 and out chanced us 13-12 while gaining 9 power plays to the MOB's 4. The team was lacking in discipline as it struggled to adapt to a different style of officiating than encountered so far in the playoffs.
Saturday the MOB rebounded for a 7-1 victory out shooting the Bandits 31-22 and out chancing them 14-7. Once again the officials caused some frustration in calling 21 power plays between the teams. Mitchell Board had 2 goals and 1 assist, Matt Szpak added 2 goals and Colton Parayko had 3 assists to pace the offence. Rookie Tanner Jaillet was steady in net stopping 20 shots.
